The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and you feel the wow factor as you drive up towards the house. Staff were friendly and helpful if needed. The room was stylishly furnished as was the bathroom. The leisure facilities were very good and the indoor pool is actually bigger than it looks in the photos, sauna was probably the hottest we have been in. Overall we would stay at this location again and would recommend it for a relaxing trip away.
A beautiful hotel, tucked away, which gave us just the peace and quiet we were after for a romantic weekend away. Breakfast could have more variety eg different bread and pastries.
This was my first time away on a corporate event - the venue, food and location were all an excellent choice - particularly as some of our events were outdoor activities - hotel grounds were a superb location - would definitely return for my own leisure time. One downside to this was the disturbance at night with a noise coming from what I think may have been the boiler room. Although reported - wasn't fixed. Otherwise, cannot fault the hotel or staff.
There were some mixed reviews of the hotel online so I was a little worried. The hotel has is large conference facilities and during the week caters for businesses and does weddings over the weekend. As a result there is no restuarant open on weekends. We arrived on Fri. eve and the hotel was empty, business clients gone, wedding guests not arrived. The hotel room was clean, with a table, chairs and comfy bed. The view from the room overlooked the extensive countryside it is located in. We made full use the leisure facilites (full gym, pool, sauna and hot tub) over the weekend and did so on our own - it was like having our own private club. Note: No children under 18 allowed in the leisure facilities. Breakfast was extensive and well prepared. For our evening meals we had fantastic food at a couple of local (less than 10 mins in car) gastro-pubs. The Betsy Wynne was cheaper and less pretensious so overall more enjoyable. We also used the lovely tennis courts, and putting green and wandered in the hotel gardens (again on our own). So overall, a lovely weekend away in a hotel that was either empty or had guests closetted away in a function room giving us the run of the place. Local pubs allowed us to eat well (even if it did mean driving).
