Located opposite Norwich's famous Norman cathedral, the Maids Head Hotel is renowned for its fantastic location and facilities. Its central location makes it a fantastic base for exploring medieval Norwich and the famous Norfolk broads. The hotel was originally built in the 13th century and it is a beautiful and historic building, in fitting with the rest of Norwich city centre. The hotel is only 5 miles from the airport and within walking distance of the mainline train station with its own parking facilities on site.

Tariff from 42 per room per night

Travelled by train and stayed at the Maids Head to attend events at the cathedral. Perfect location for this. Requested a quiet room - and it was, despite a wedding reception in the hotel and lively Norwich on a Saturday night. Very pleasant room. We arrived ahead of official check in time, but our room was available with no problem. Top marks to friendly and helpful staff on reception, in restaurant and bar. Superb breakfasts! Would happily stay again.

We appreciated the hotel - and found the staff helpful at all times. The room was comfortable and well furnished. Being in the centre of the city, we were able to access the shops and interesting places in the city without having to use the car. The city is served by excellent bus services - which on one of the days we used to visit Cromer.

Norwich is one of the finest cities I have ever visited.Everything is accessible on foot and there is plenty to see and do. The Maid's Head Hotel is centrally situated and ideal for exploring the city. The rooms are a good size and facilities are adequate. However two things annoyed us 1.The T.V. in our room didn't work properly and despite asking 5 or 6 times no-one came to look at it.2.There was a promotional offer of a free sharer starter at dinner. When we asked for this at dinner the waitress knew nothing about it, went to enqire and returned to say it was o.k.When ordering from a differnt waitress she knew nothing about it, went to enquire and returned to say we had to order this from the bar menu, nothing of which we liked. We gave up.We are amazed that restaurant don't know what's going on. Thw Witches of Eastwick - Marty Pellow is the star. All the cast were excellent. This was a memorable show in every way.The Theatre staff and facilities were excellent.

I'd planned my trip around an exhibition 'Waterlog' at Norwich Museum - the weather was sublime, one of those balmy spring days, perfect for exploring and wandering about. Norwich has real charm, the shopping and eating is fantastic and there's a real cultural buzz about the place. The exhibition was wonderful as is the Museum iteself, sited on a hill above the town in the castle. Treating myself to dinner (alone) at a Japanese restaurant - perfect location near the hotel, though the service and sushi were respectively courteous and delicious the tempura was disappointingly greasy and overpriced. Maids Head Hotel undergoing refurbishment so slightly shabby but the staff all extremely helpful and friendly.

Lovely city with a lot to see in surrounding country side. Holt in north Norfolk was an unexpected bonus as it did not figure in any of the guide books, yet it is still a functioning village with interesting galleries and cheap second-hand book shop. We can also recommend going to How Hill at Ludham and and taking the 'Wildlife Water Trail'. In Norwich, if you like the theatre the Maddergate Theatre is a good experience. The hotel we stayed in, the Maid's Head, however, could do with a make-over. The decor is tired and dated, and one of the rooms had a lingering smell of cigarettes. The breakfast was good but generally the state of the hotel does not justify the prices charged. However, the visit to Norwich and Norfolk was an excellent experience.
