Located in Buxton, the home of one of the most famous mineral waters, this hotel is in a great position from which to explore this most charming area of the countryside. All of the rooms have been well designed and offer a place of rest and relaxation, away from the stresses of modern life. The old and new have been combined to create a fine fusion.

Tariff from 43 per room per night

The fun started before we booked in we took our Daughters 11 & 9 to Pooles Cavern about 10 mins before you get to Buxton. The caverns were very interesting although I did think slightly over priced 20 for a family of 4 but the tour guide was incredibly informative. Just outside the caverns we took a short walk in the country park leading us out onto fells and a fort ruin, the view was breathtaking. The hotel accommodation was great, huge big room with a double and 2 full sized single beds for the girls. The kids loved having a swim in the pool although it gets busy at weekends. You should be aware the hotel is popular for weddings and there were 3 weddings in the weekend we stayed but the hotel is huge and the extra activity didnt bother us.If you stay on a Sunday like we did you could find some places outside for food stop serving early - took us an hour to find somewhere suitable for us (but we do have food allergies to consider). All in all we had a great time and thouroughly enjoyed ourselves if you have kids and you want to walk buy the Derbyshire Walks with Children book and try the Monsal Dale walk you get to it via a viaduct, river, small waterfall and a few river bridges and the Monsal View cafe is a lovely place to stop half way through the walk although a bit pricey but fab home made cakes.

Lovely day out, beautiful gardens and house. Staff extremely helpful to disabled husband. Scrumptious afternoon tea in restaurant.

Poor accommodation. Badly needs renovating. Unlike to happen tho.

Buxton is a very attractive Georgian town with beautiful buildings, good aminities set right in thre middle of in spectular surroundings; an excellent destination for a short break. The High Peak District is walking country. We went up Mam Tor, which gave us spectacular views over the whole area for a relatively easy climb. At the bottom, in Hope Valley, is Castleton, a pretty village with several good pubs and cafes, a must stop after a good excursion. We walked along the Dove Valley, one of the prettiest in England. Easy family walking, good parking free of charge, picnic areas. Higly recommended.
