Clarendon house is situated in the centre of the kenilworth conservation area in the heart of england. The original timber framed "castle tavern" which is incorporated into the hotel, dates back to 1430 and to this day is still supported by the old oak tree around which it was built. The tavern prospered through elizabethan times situated on the main route to kenilworth castle. It was regularly used as a billet during the 17th century for cromwell's troops during the siege of the castle.
