The hotel was ok, the swimming pool was lovely and just what we needed for recovering after running the London marathon. Shame the steam room wasn't working but the jacuzzi was so relaxing. The room was comfortable, but three bulbs weren't working, including the bathroom vanity light. We did report it but when they finally offered us another room, we were to tired to pack up our things and move. Decor was also a bit tired, and we were glad it wasn't the karaoke night as we overlooked the bar. A relatively relaxing midweek stay, and happy with the overall experience.

The reception staff were frienfly & helpful. We asked for a quiet room & we got one. We went down for breakfast at 7.30 am to find the room full (there were 2 coaches staying overnight) but no food was put out. We had to que for everyting, & it kept running out. We were quite angry at having to wait so long as we needed an early start. The food was good when it arrived, even though we didn't get the bacon as it hadn't been cooked! We have stayed in the hotel before, & will do so again. The location close to Warwickshire & the south is good, plus we have relative in Solihull, so it is very convenient. Our only criticism is that the vent for the pool (we think) is sited inwards towards the gardens, and because it is an enclosed space, makes a lot of noise. We had to close the windows because we found it hard to hear the TV! Perhaps someone could look at extending the vent the other way i.e. towards the outside of the building. We didn't even mind the karaoke!!

Purpose of visit was to visit family. Have been to Upton House, Nr Banbury N.T. before but had forgotten it was not suitable for people with walking difficulties! Gardens well worth the visit. Lots of pictures in house. All v. enjoyable. Our visit was with our elderly mother and we were disappointed the hotel had not provided adjoining rooms. We had to settle on a family room for 3 adults, which although spacious enough was not ideal. Meant neither of us got a break. Also patter of little feet late at night and early morning from adjoining rooms. Woken up by water cascading down wall from broken downpipe during heavy rain. Room itself a bit 'tired'. We were in the older part, Hotel v. crowded at breakfast on Sunday with coach party. Tables available hadn't been laid and staff stretched/food not been replenished at buffet. By contrast, breakfast on Monday was v. quiet, staff v.helpful and breakfast cooked to order. Dinner on Sun night in hotel had to be sent back because it was inadequate, especially at the price. Not surprisingly, my sister and I were the only 2 people in there. Also hotel not equipped for disabled people. There are 3 steps down to the restaurant, which was v. difficult with the wheelchair. Only access was through the locked bar area, which had to be opened up specially, which the staff were v. happy to do. Think we were just unlucky that it was a busy weekend.

The taxi service ordered by the hotel reception was excellent. Arrived early, was pleseant and good value for money. I brought a few friends back to the hotel to enjoy a drink and sandwiches at the bar. The night porter was extreemely helpful and courteous. Good night life in the local town of Solihull. Great bars and restaurants.
