This Jacobean hotel actually has a heritage that goes back to medieval times, and as a guest you are invited to share in a little piece of history on-site. The rooms have retained a great deal of period pieces but have been fused with modern amenities that include television, telephone and private bathroom. The friendly staff is happy to help you get the most from your stay.

Tariff from 45 per room per night

We went primarily for retail therapy and spent most of the time shopping. There is a good range of shops and service was good. Also enjoyed the antique and flea market on Sunday morning.

Hotel was a fascinating old building. Staff very friendly. Room was clean and comfortable but quite small with no views. However given the age and siting of the building you'd be lucky to get a room with any scenic outlook. Only had breakfast in the hotel and that was very good. Dinner looked expensive and in any case plenty of bars/restaurants in Ludlow or nearby. Car park was very useful. Parking in Ludlow seems chaotic at the best of times but was particularly bad when we were there as it was close to the Sept food festival. Ludlow is great - really interesting old buildings and a wide range of independent shops, a rare find this day and age. Countryside around is stunning and loads of interesting places to visit particularly if you like historic houses and gardens. Close to Welsh border and the Brecon Beacons and Black mountains if you like walking or more outdoor pursuits. Good base and we'd definitely return there.

We (my husband and I) had a Friday - Sunday stay at the Feathers Hotel in Ludlow. The hotel was fabulous as when we arrived they had upgraded us to the 'spa' room. A massive room with all the facilities for the great price acquired by Superbreak! We visited many of the venues which had music as part of the festival. We saw a fabulous Sex Pistols tribute type ban 'Do not Resusitate'and had a great time listening to the music and drinking real ale. Just what the doctor ordered!

Excellent overall - plenty of character, friendly & helpful staff, nice quiet room, good parking a bonus for Ludlow. Great breakfast but dinner in restaurant very disappointing and expensive - also bar prices very high.

Our principal objective in visiting Ludlow was a reunion with friends from university but our central location at the Feathers allowed us to make good use of any free time to savour some of the many delights of the town, e.g. the splendid book fair in Castle St. This is also the new location of the town's excellent tourist information centre, which any visitor wishing to make the most of their stay in the town should make their first port of call. As to our concern that Ludlow, with its reputation as a gastronomic centre of excellence, might not be able to provide good quality fare at more reasonable prices, this proved completely unfounded: local recommendations to the Wheatsheaf and the Unicorn for our reunion meals more than satisfied all participants.
