In the heart of Stratford upon Avon, this charming half timbered building represents an historic and beautiful place from which to base your exploration of the area. Many of the main Shakespeare attractions are within a short walk of the hotel that has a friendly and attentive staff on hand to help with any requirements. All of the rooms have been fitted with great amenities.
Superbreaks looked after all the arrangements and the documentation in advance including the theatre tickets. Unfortunatley we left the tickets at home- one panicky call later to Superbreaks and they had arranged for a duplicate set of tickets at the theatre - much appreciated & brilliant service!. The hotel was good however I did feel that the restaurant and bar staff always looked miserable and serious. I feel they needed to smile more to help with the atmosphere. Other staff encountered were excellant.
We wen to see Dame Judy Dench in The Merry Wives - The Musical. Great experience - actors and actresses performed with immense energy. Had dinner in Quarto's. Good food but service a little slow bearing in mind that it was a pre-performance meal.
Went to the theatre in Stratford to see West Side Story performed at the Courtyard.
The attraction for us was that of a visit to the theatre where productions are of such high quality, and undoubtably of world class. Backstage tour of the theatre was fascinating and gave insight into the theatre workings. A class of school children tried on various stage costumes. The evening meals, taken in an unhurried and relaxing atmosphere and attended by superlative staff would undoubtably bring us back to this hotel. The menu gave an interesting choice and the food was delicious and the ambience romantic.
Wonderful setting good rooms but spoilt by cold hot breakfast. Why dont they have buffet style so food is kept hot.Smart service is not smart if it does not provide smart food This was an expensive trip marred by poof culinary skill at breakfast
