Ice hockey finals a good time. People from all over UK attended.

We were in Nottingham for the Ice Hockey Finals at the National Ice Arena, the arena is an excellent venue and is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. We found time to do some shopping the city centre is a great place for clothes shopping, Limeys, Flannels and House of Fraser were our favourites. Eating out in Nottingham is very easy there are many many good places! The Cock a Hoop was the best, I suggest the Bunkers Hill pub for Real Ale fans.

I was last in Nottingham 40 years ago when I completed the research for my PhD at the University. I returned this time to see how the University and City had changed and to meet the grandson of a friend who has just started at the University. I knew that Nottingham would have changed a great deal but was pleased to see that some of the historic parts remained (Castle, Trip to Jerusalem Inn, Market Square). Obviously a thriving city now but still with a lot of historical interest.

Driving in Nottingham can be a nightmare because of the one-way system - it is quite confusing but worth it. We go every year for the Ice Shows and Pantomime which are both fantastic. The Nottingham Theatre Royal is easily located and has a fantastic atmosphere - everybody participates in the panto, even the adults! The Christmas lights in Nottingham are worth seeing too. The next morning the first place we headed was Starbucks for a lovely coffee/hot chocolate. The shopping in Nottingham is pretty good and there's always Hard Rock Cafe for food. What more could you want?

Went to a retirement party for an old friend.
