Experiencing new pubs is always good fun. Remembering the visits can be difficult but that means they were good pubs! The Oak Tree had great beer and a lovely decor that had been well planned. The Royal Shakespear Company production of King Lear is what took us to Stratford. first time there and will certainly go again. The cheap tickets actually were the best seats for the production. A walk around the area of Stratford-upon-Avon theatres and canal shows that the area is more green and peaceful than its named counterpart Stratford in East London. Know which one I prefer!
Hotel was very good, superb berakfast and pre-show dinner.Taking the desert course after the show with coffee and brandy completed the evening. Learnt were some modern day sayings originated from at Ann Hathaway Cottage. Short walk into town each day allowing time for drinks in the Garricks Head, small bar? And high tea in Gardens of local cafe
The Stratford Victoria Hotel is excellent and offers free parking. very convenient to walk into main shopping/tourist areas from there. best way to get a good overview of Shakespeare history around the town is to take the bus tour (50 mins). Includes sites out of town as well. A must when visiting Stratford is to see the Royal Shakespeare Company perform a play, Playhouse is on the bank of the river Avon.
Just a short relaxing break taking in a play at the RSC.
