Inverness serves as a gateway to many different places in the Highlands such as the Cairngorms and the Upper Highlands heading towards the John o' Groats area - ideal if you have a passion for the outdoors. The city of Inverness itself is actually pretty small, so if you are looking for things to do or places to see, then inevitably there isn't as much to do as other cities which for some people might be a bit disappointing. But all in all Inverness is quite a nice and pleasant city - the residents there are helpful to people who are new to the area.
