Great couple of days including a trip to see 'Phantom of the Opera' courtesy of our daughter. Pleasantly surprised at the above average accommodation at the 'Delmere'.
Arrived by train from Folkestone into Charing Cross Station. Had lunch at the Strand Thistle Hotel. Went to our Hotel (Delmere Hotel. Sussex Gardens.) Went out for some shopping in Oxford Street. Then returned to get ready to go to the Theatre to see the Sound of Music. Excellent, returned to the Hotel for a night cap in the Jazz bar.
We took our 9 year old niece for a 3 day break to the capital. starting with the Natural History Museum as she loves dinosaurs and fossils etc, this was the best part of the trip. We found that traditional pub meals were best for both choice and value for money. We used the fast track ticket on the London Eye and although a little expensive as children are charged at the same rate as adults it was well worth it to avoid the long queues.
Just went to London for the tennis , unfortunately the weather was poor! Will try again next year.
Two day visit to London to see Muse play at Wembley. They were excellent and the seats in the Royal Box were quite good too! Drinks expensive though. Most people went for the tube back to city centre and they were extremely overcrowded. We opted for the train back to Marylebone which was great with some empty seats. Also visited London Zoo for the first time and it wasn't as big as expected and looked a little jaded in places. Still worth a visit especially the butterfly house. Took the canal boat trip to get there which was pleasant but some commentary would have been nice. Also took the river cruise up to Greenwich (for the second time.) Very good commentary and some excellent views of London landmarks.
