Stonecross Manor was established in 1857 as an orphanage for young girls by Mrs Mary Howard. Stonecross Manor Hotel has since been extensively modernised and converted into the fine hotel that it is today. The hotel is situated on the edge of Kendal and is an ideal base from which to explore some of Britain's most beautiful countryside. Lake Windermere can be reached in twenty minutes by car as well as by train. Each room is comfortably decorated and furnished in traditional style.
