We had an excellent couple of day at the Hickstead Hotel, which is in an ideal location for getting to Brighton, without the hustle and bustle of staying in the city centre. Although it was bracing the sea front and pier had as much going on as they would in the summer, which was nice as some seaside towns have a bit of a ghost town feel to thm in the winter. We went away from my husbands 40th birthday and all three of us including my five year old daughter had a fun filled and relaxing weekend
We stayed at the Hickstead Hotel as we wanted to attend a wedding between there and Brighton. As all the hotels in Brighton wanted a two-night stay we opted for nearby Hickstead. It was close to the motorway but also right on the South Downs. We were really pleased with the service at the hotel and also the price. Whilst the Hotel is fairly close to the motorway, you feel like you are staying in the middle of the country. The room was very spacious and the breakfast was fantastic with everything you need to tackle a post-wedding hangover. All needs and tastes were catered for in a well-stocked breakfast buffet. Staff were also keen to help with specific requests for food and drink. The cost of the hotel was really great. A number of friends stayed at the nearby Hickstead Travelodge for only three pound less than us. Their breakfast was purchased separately from the rubbish Little Chef at a ridiculous price and they were troubled through the night by trucks and cars visiting the petrol station. We felt very smug that we had got a great deal through Superbreak!
We loved driving through the countryside through little villages to the Long Man of Wilmington. We loved Arundel and the pub the Black Rabbit which is one the river with views of the castle in the distance.
Went to Bookers Vineyard and Winery for wine tasting (a gift and the resaon for going)Wine different to what I am used to, but paletable. Tour and information excellent Went to the Cactus Garden Centre, excellent value for growing cacti, good variety. Visited local Roman villa, mosaics excellent.
