Stayed at Macdonald Bear hotel which was excellent and just a few minutes walk from Blenheim. Palace was beautiful and very intereting to look around. Grounds are absolutely stunning and there was a craft fayre too. Took the bus to Witney and noticed a frequent bus service to Oxford too. Lovely break, Woodstock is the perfect base for a visit to the Cotswolds
Oxford was very interesting walking tour with guide well worth the money. Bleinham Palace very interesting up date your ticket to an annual pass
Woodstock is a beautiful little village in the Oxfordshire countryside and a stones throw from Blenham Palace. The service at the Bear is exceptional. It is plain to see how this hotel has been awarded their 4 stars My husband Chris and I had a lovely time. We were travelling from Boston in Lincolnshire and the roads are not clearly signed all the way, After 12 roundabouts and signs that looked like they had been stolen and not replaced with just posts remaining it was a little stressful next time we would take the train. The Bear is perfect for a special break away
We booked three rooms at The Bear to celebrate my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. Two rooms were in the courtyard and one in the 13th century main building. Ages ranged from 7 to 76, and I am delighted to say everybody simply loved the place.. We dined on Saturday night in The Cotswold Room. A private room where we ate from the main restaurant menu. The food, service and wines were impeccable. Breakfast on Sunday was a treat too, on a table for 8 in a bay window. We were bathed in spring sunshine.. We then spent the whole day exploring Blenheim Palace. The children had such a good time. It really was a perfect weekend. Thank you to all the staff at The Bear who made us feel so welcome.
Apart from the weather, a worthwhile trip, rain was heavy didn't get a chance to look round grounds but will certainly be going back. Found a great little pub in lane at the back of the Bear Hotel, food was excellent and reasonably priced good atmosphere.
