If you’re a fan of history, architecture and water, Bath Spa is the place for you. In addition to the world-famous Bath Spa and Pump Rooms, with the baths dating back to the Roman era, the River Avon also flows through the heart of the city. Plenty to see and do, with Bath Abbey, the Jane Austen Museum, the Royal Crescent and loads of quirky independent shops, cafés, bars and pubs, as well as the big names including Jollys, once a classic British department store and now part of House of Fraser. The city gets very busy in peak season, bring your elbows!

I could, and many have, written books about this beautiful city. Buildings the colour of honey, incredible architecture - from the Circus to the Royal Crescent. This is a city worth a visit. Shopping on Milton Street is wonderful - many of the high street shops are there, with independents tucked in. There are many shopping arcades off the main road and all worth a peak. The main shopping area is all pedestrianised and there are often quite talented buskers to be found, singing and playing for your enjoyment. Do not omit a visit to Sally Lunn's Tea Shop - the oldest shop in Bath, just around the corner from the incredible Bath Abbey. Also a must see is the Jane Austen Museum and the Costume Museum. Of course, the Roman Baths must be seen - but get there early, particularly during the tourist season. Shop on Pultney Bridge, picnic beside the weir in Jubilee Gardens, indulge in a gourmet dinner at The Hole in the Wall or, for something more modern, dine at the eclectic The Walrus and the Carpenter. I could fill pages on this wonderful place, but i will stop there and let you make discoveries for yourself!
