When we arrived we were allocated the smallest room in the hotel I think, as soon as we arrived in the room I could see the bed dipped in the middle, which transpired to be because the bed was broken! I advised the receptionist who moved us to another room, slightly bigger - but wasn't happy that had been allocated the original room, it was very obvious the bed was broken!

We were very surprised at the location of the hotel plus the quality standard displayed. Most satisfactory. Would certainly pay another visit another time. Bit disappointed that Bideford do not have too many good restaurants to dine out in the evening.

Hotel was fine although one of our rooms was rather small with limited storage for clothes. Pool was OK but cool as heating had broken down, public areas were busy and smart and the breakfast was OK though small portions. wewent out each day and went to the beach twice - Bude in the mist which was chilly but Westward Ho was graet, sunny , lots of space. Arlington court NT had a lot to offer with gardens, horses, the house and a (very busy) tea room. Rosemoor gardens was very good, lovely plants, veg garden and tea room

We stayed for two nights at the Durrant House Hotel which we had booked through Superbreak.. They had recently redecorated the room but it left a lot to be desired. The TV picture was hardly watchable, there was no table on my side of the bed and the bedside light switches were miles away.. The hotel dining room was Ok but on the second night we ate in the bar - we both had fish and chips and it was small and not very nice on top, of which the mushy peas were uneatable.. We visited the Rosemore gardens and Dartington glass factory.. The following day we travelled into Cornwall stopping at Boscastle on route and had three nights booked at the Travel Inn at St Austel. Just three weeks since it opened and a great disabled room with a huge walk in wet room.. We visited the Lost Gardens of Heligan (Better the Eden) and the Goonhilly Earth Station amongst other sights
