The Crown Hotel is a recently refurbished hotel, situated in the centre of Harrogate, just minutes away from Harrogate International Centre, the boutiques and high street shops, as well as the town’s busy bars and nightclubs. All the bedrooms feature modem connection, television, telephone, tea/coffee making facilities, iron and hairdryer. Internet access is via modem points in the bedrooms and is wireless in the public areas. Other hotel facilities include a restaurant, the Place Bar and limited car parking.
Flower show (held twice a year) was well worth a visit, even if (like me) your not a great gardener - lots to see and do and its a full day - very good value. Harrogate is a lovely place to roam around - especially on a Sunday morning - with its character buildings & shops. Beautiful yorkshire countryside to explore - all within very easy reach.
The purpose of my 10 day break was to vist my mother and my children and to resolve some personal matters. Therefore my opportunities for leisure activities were limited. Harrogate is a vibrant town with many attractions the main ones being centered on the excellent International Conference Centre. There is a wide choice of first class international cuisine to suit alltastes and all pockets. Numerous good standard cafes abound in the town, the most famous being Bettys, a word of caution be prepared to pay high prices. I found that the town still maintains an outstanding standard of floral gardens in its public areas. The Valley Gardens were impressively colourful and beatifully maintained. The only drawback for me was the lack of parking spaces in the town centre, but perhaps this is inevitable in such a popular location.
I wouldn't have booked hotel if I had realised that the refurbishment work was still being undertaken at the hotel and that we were having a non-refurbished room. The room was very shoddy and extremely hot. Very poor.
Lovey old fashioned shops. Wonderful old buildings. Colourful parks
Recommend that you take the park and ride if going to York. £2 rather than £10 for 4 hours in a car park.(If you can get into one) The Castle Museum was good value for money - you need a good half day to see it all in detail and the Minster was breathtaking. Walk the streets on foot to soak up the atmosphere of the City. There are also bus tours and boat trips available.
