York is a beautiful city with lots of green space and oodles of history. Of course, no visit is complete without going to the Gothic cathedral of York Minster. If you love stained glass, this is arguably one of the best places in the world to see it. Also, don't miss the National Railway Museum, the Jorvik Viking Centre and the city walls. There's enough there for a week's holiday, not just a weekend break.
